When hiring the me, you benefit by receiving…

  • Experience: I have been a birthworker, advanced birth and postpartum doula, clinical homebirth assistant, placenta encapsulator and herbalist for over 16 years, serving over 260 families. I am a 2022 graduate of the first cohort of the Traditional Birth Companion course by Billie Harrigan, a TBC of 35 years located in Ontario, Canada (check out the link to see the extensive program) and a graduate of the Trauma Informed Professional Course for perinatal providers. I’ve been trained in NRP (neonatal rsuscitation), S,T.A.B.L.E, Neonatal Resuscitation with Karen Strange, Spinning Babies certification, amember of Rachel Reed’s Childbirth Collective, and am always taking new courses and trainings to continue educating myself on birth and parenting topics.

  • Personalized Companionship: Building one-on-one relationships is important therefore I only take 2 clients per month and spend more time with clients than most regulated care providers can and do.

  • Calm Birth Facilitator: I have led dozens of families in Calm Birth, a technique of mindful awareness meditation for childbirth, both in Indianapolis and New York. These meditations and relaxation techniques allow women and birthing people to birth in a state of calm, as proved by Harvard Medical School, giving them a way to deal with stress, anxiety and fear. Meditation is proven to lower stress hormones and in childbirth, enable the hormones of birth to work to their greatest potential.

  • Training in Placenta Encapsulation: The human placenta contains a variety of maternal health-supporting nutrients and hormones for new mothers. If any of my clients wish to practice placentophagy (the consumption of one’s placenta), I’m trained to safely prepare placental tissue for easy, capsule-form consumption.

  • Clinical Aromatherapy: I am thoroughly trained under the first and only evidenced-based obstetrics aromatherapy course in the United States - Clinical Aromatherapy for Women’s Health taught by Pam Conrad, RN, BSN, CCAP. Through this training, I have the right to practice under the American Holistic Nurses Association in the safe use of essential oils for comfort during labor and birth.

  • Individualized Support: I don’t force my vision for a “perfect birth”— the focus is on helping you find what’s right for you. Birth is different for everyone and the only goal is that you have a positive experience, whatever that may be.

Think of your companion as your pregnancy travel agent or GPS – she guides you through your labor, birth and beyond.
